Christmas Cards

Did your family send cards? Did your family display the ones they received? Do you still send Christmas cards? Do you have any cards from your ancestors?

Here is a listing of all of today’s Advent Calendar of Christmas Memories posts from GeneaBloggers’ member blogs:

My family always send out lots and lots of Christmas cards. Both my Mom and my Dad were really into it. They worked together to fill out up to 300 cards every year. They always kept the many cards they received in a big wicker basket. I still make sure every year that I go to my Mom’s after Christmas and read her basketful of cards.

In 2002, after my father passed away, my Mom gave me all of the cards that they had received every Christmas for the past 50 years! Wow, what a treasure trove! My husband actually scanned each and every one and we have them cataloged by year. I then gave them all to a local church where they were doing craft projects. Of course, I save many sentimental ones.

The oldest Christmas card I have is one that was sent in 1914 from my great-aunt, Linnie JACOB Parslow, in Ireland to her father here in the United States!
Sadly, I don’t know how to post a picture of it!

    Carol -

I love that your Mom saved all of those 50 years of Christmas cards. She is a woman after my own heart. :)
